I'm very happy to have welcomed some new followers recently so now might be a good time to say hello again. Hello!

I'm Ruth Hollick, and I'm the face behind Mayflower Bespoke Jewellery.

I'm a Doncaster girl, who ended up in Staffordshire via university in Newcastle-upon -Tyne and work in London. I'm a mum and a wife and a three-brothers sufferer.😉
.
Mayflower is named after my childhood primary school, which in turn was named after the ship sailed by the local Pilgrim Fathers. I chose the name for its links to my (very much loved) home, and its connotations of risk, adventure and new horizons.

I love my dogs.
.
I used to teach children. Now I like to teach adults how to make shiny things.
.
I am hurtling towards the big 5-0, and lockdown has tipped me over some dreadful style hill into the land of elastic and un-dyed hair.

I am currently enjoying making custom commissions, The Serpent, Jaffa Cakes and hot water bottles.

I am currently not enjoying missing my family, sunshine, meals out and far-away friends.

This lovely pendant was a commission piece last year. Somehow it felt warm and soft in my hand. Just gorgeous.

I've got a few more exciting gold pieces coming up. The methods and techniques I use are the same for silver and gold - although soldering gold does produce much more nervous tension....😉

Cleaning your jewellery is possible at home, and let's face it finding a shop open to take your jewellery to isn't an option at the moment. To be honest, the very best tip to keep your jewellery looking sparkly is to wear it. Diamonds and pyjamas? Why not! 💍

Remember, folks, when cleaning your house (as I do top to bottom daily 😜) rubber gloves are your friend. Use them!
